Fraunhofer is Europe’s largest application-oriented research organization with 60 institutes and a staff of more than 18,000 scientists and engineers. Fraunhofer Institute for Ceramic Technologies and Systems (FRAUNHOFER IKTS) located in Dresden and Hermsdorf covers the complete field of advanced ceramics with a total staff of 450 people.
Fraunhofer IKTS develops concepts for product and process innovations in numerous trendsetting industry sectors, including energy and environmental technology, mechanical and plant engineering, microsystems and medical technology and vehicle manufacturing.
The section Environmental Technology and Bioenergy (UTB) deals with the development of materials, technologies and systems for efficient, safe, economical generation, conversion, transportation, storage and utilization of energy and of technologies and processes for water and air purification.
